Chicago Highlights

This week has been the most hectic. I didn't realize how exhausting traveling can be when you return home. My body is still trying to get back into my daily routine, but it appears I am still in vacation mode. This blog post is going to be about my highlights of my most recent trip to Chicago. Chicago is such a beautiful city, I am reminded every time I return. I took a trip with a group a friends and we stayed at the W Hotel on Lakeshore Drive downtown.. The W Hotel was a delightful experience, the ambience was amazing. The food and drinks were delicious and the staff was very friendly. However, I was a little dissappointed in the decor of the guest rooms. The rooms resembled a room that would be at a Holiday Inn. The pictures on the website are a little misleading. The website advertises the guest rooms to be very trendy and unique, but to my dismay the rooms are extremely basic.

Breakfast at the Wave Restaurant in the W Hotel was a little over-priced but enjoyable.
I finally got to experience the Taste of Chicago for myself and I have to say that my first impression is that I can't believe that people really travel to the city for this event. It is crowded, hot, the food is average, and is not very sophisticated. I am happy that I had the opportunity to see what the hype is all about, but it is not likely that I will come to the city just attend the subpar event again. It just doesn't live up to the standards that I have for an event that brings in hundreds of people from out of state.
After the Taste of Chicago, I scurried down to Michigan Avenue to catch a cab, then I ended up at a trendy resturaunt called HUB 51, where I had amazing mojitos and their signature drink. The service was great. Every mojitio that I tasted in Chicago was delicious. The bartenders really know what they are doing.

That evening our traveling crew got all fancy to watch the fireworks at the Navy Pier. We had the most amazing view on the 7th floor.  I got a chance to wear my tangerine dress, that I absolutely love. It is a Sushe by JTracey custom design.

This is an amazing burger that I had from the restaurant Bandera on Michigan Avenue.

The best part of my trip was saved for last, it  was what I had been waiting for the whole entire trip, The Roof top at the Wit Hotel. Everything about this bar was amazing, the music, the DJ, the people, the food, and the drinks. I love this place, it was so live and the view was amazing. Standing all the way at the 37th floor, with quite a ways to go, the roof top experience is a must have if you are going to be in the city that doesn't sleep.

Until we meet again....I love you Chicago!!!!!
